‘Kaleidoscope’ is a finalist in the Amnesty Media Awards, 2022
It was really mind blowing and cool to find out my documentary ‘Kaleidoscope‘, about trans youth and the UK media, was a finalist in this year’s Amnesty Media Awards in the Radio & Podcasts category.
Here’s what they say about the awards: “Amnesty International Media Awards celebrate excellence in human rights journalism and applaud the courage and determination of journalists and editors who put their lives on the line to tell important human rights stories.”
I got to go to the ceremony at the Amnesty UK offices, and it was definitely one of the best award events I’ve ever been to – it reminded me of the Third Coast awards. At both I’ve really felt like it was a celebration of both craft and of really meaningful work. Like Third Coast does, Amnesty played a clip from every nomination, and it was genuinely really great to hear / see all the clips (and see photos in the photojournalism category).
Also I was really happy about the winner in the Radio & Podcasts – The Bias Diagnosis – which was made by some amazing producers I am lucky to know, Anishka Sharma and Emma Barnaby.
